Information on My Heart

Heart is a noble organ that keeps us alive for good work. How to keep that my heart healthy is a million dollar question.

In infancy and childhood - if congenial defects are detected like a trial or ventricular spectral defect – they can be and must be surgically corrected and then only, the heart is normal.

In adult age say from 20 - 80 (90) years – there must be a positive approach to heart care, which includes,

Food: - Food must be simple; non-vegetarian or vegetarian and in both we should avoid fats/sweet/salt, or at least reduce these items. We should try to eat more of salad and fruits. Overeating is dangerous and for diabetics and hypertensive it may lead to a heart attack particularly during sleep if pain occurs in the middle of chest or left side of chest radiating to neck or arms or fore arms – we must suspect a heart problem like coronary myocardial infarct and rush the patient to a good hospital. It means if you reach hospital in 20-30 minutes and the doctor starts treatment in short span your heart muscle will not be damaged or will escape with minimal damage.

The doctors in major hospitals and heart institute are capable of deciding whether the chest pain suffered by the patient was due to coronary heart disease or not, and decide future line of treatment. After ECG monitoring or Angiography – heart specialist will decide drug therapy or Angioplasty (dilation of artery) advice on diet, exercise and rehabilitation etc. if necessary, they will advice bypass surgery.

Exercise: - Exercise is good. But lets discus this afterwards, now let us see other harmful habits that affects the heart adversely.
