Information on Heart Disease

Despite major advances in the diagnosis and treatment in medical sciences, heart diseases continue to be a leading cause of mortality and morbidity of human beings. By 2000 A.D about 20 million people in all over the world will suffer from some form of heart disease every year, out of which 3 million will be the victims of acute heart attack annually. Furthermore, heart disease kills a person during his or her active period of life which is between 40 to 60 years of age, and age when he or she is a very important productive member of the family, society and contributes actively to the growth of the country. Clearly there is tremendous need to reduce this burden of human suffering. Heart diseases are not problems of patients or for doctors to solve. It is problem which today’s society is encountering and certainly needs to be addressed from a social perspective.

The exact cause of heart disease is unclear. But there are factors which were found to be associated with the occurrence of heart disease in the family as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking, overweight. In addition tension, anxiety and stress of modern society, lack of physical exercise, fast food habits, pollution, and adulterated food stuff. All these factors add to the causation of the disease. Heart diseases may occur due to so many factors like tension, anxiety, pollution, smoking, overwork, fast life style etc. The ideal thing would therefore be to stay away from all these. But in reality that is our society today. I should not and will not advise you hundreds of Dos & Don’ts.

What you need are :-
  1. To be aware about problems of heart disease which is progressively affects our society in a virulent manner.
  2. To identify your own risk of becoming a victim today or tomorrow.
  3. To develop a mechanism with which you should be able to prevent the heart disease and enjoy living a healthy, productive life.
To set that mechanism, both the cardiologist and the person concerned have to participate conjointly since the life style and risk of heart disease varies from person to person. One’s life style needs to be tailored accordingly. The main objective is to live a good quality life in today’s society amidst all these factors, in a fruitful, productive and active way so that a realization or your full potential can be implemented. Today’s cardiologist says “if you are a patient, despite your illness you should be able to live a normal life with some modification, that is ‘wellness in illness’ one’s risk of having a heart problem today and tomorrow can be estimated, quantified and deal accordingly. Because at the end of the day whatever is out society today, we need to live, thrive happily, pleasantly and affirmatively.
