Good Reading Habits
The Best way of reading is fluent reading and read widely, which involves flexibility of reading rate, high vocabulary and good comprehension. These are some of the Good Reading Habits.
- Sit with a good light coming from left and behind. It should be fare enough to the side so that one’s own shadow is avoided.
- Avoid direct exposure of eyes to sunlight. It may affect the eye sight at that time avoid Reading Books.
- Hold the printed page about a foot and half away from the eyes and at an angle of 45 to 70 degrees from the horizontal. Indirect lighting is easier on eyes that a bright beam concentrated on what one is reading. Do not expose eyes to dust or glaring light.
- Do not read in moving trains and buses or in lying position or in flicking or dim light. It causes eye strain. It is not a Good Reading Habit so, avoid reading books in traveling.
- Do not read books or magazines with fine prints. It causes strain on the eyes.
- Give rest to the eyes frequently when reading or doing close eye work, by either closing the eyes of looking at a distant object preferably at green trees for a few minutes.
