Symptoms of a few eye Problems
Eye Behavior
- Attempt to brush away blur; rub eyes excessively, frown.
- Shut or cover one eye, till the head or thrust it forward when looking at neat or distant objects.
- Having difficulty in reading or in other work-requiring close use of the eyes.
- Blink more than usual, cry often or are irritable when doing close work.
- Stumble or trip over small objects quite often.
- Hold books or small objects close to eyes.
- Are unable to participate in games requiring distant vision.
- Are unduly sensitive to light.
Eye Appearances
- Red-rimmed, encrusted or swollen eyelids.
- Recurring sites.
- Inflamed or Watery Eyes.
- Crossed eyes.
Eye Complaints
- Cannot see well.
- Dizziness following close eye work.
- Headaches following close eye work.
- Nausea following close eye work.
- Blurred or double vision.
Squint: It is a type of
Eye Problem often called to be a sign of fortune in some countries. But in practice it is not so. Early recognition and correction has to be done, otherwise the child will lose eye sight in one eye.
Diabetes & Hypertension: Due to diabetes and high blood pressure eyes will be affected. Therefore persons having these diseases should get their eyes examined regularly as both of them, damage the eyes.
Headache: Do not neglect the complaint of Headache. It can be due to refractive errors of the eyes which can be corrected by glasses. It may be due to serious conditions like `Brain Diseases’, Tumor of brain’. Etc.
What to do
- Have the eyes examined by a doctor if there are signs of strain, headache, watering, redness, poor vision, irritation or any other trouble.
- Keep eye-glasses clean and free from scratches.
- Lack of Vitamin `A’ may cause `Night blindness’.
- In Eye Care it is advisable to get eyes checked up periodically.
- Visual training can help correct some conditions, such as crossed-eyes. But it faulty sight is caused by imperfect shape of eye balls as in far-sightedness and near-sightedness. Only glasses correctly prescribed and fitted can help to see clearly.
