Eye Infections



Keep the eyes and skin around the eyes clean by washing it with soap and clean water you can prevent Eye Infection. Washing at bedtime is very good as it removes the dust and dirt collected throughout the day.

Never use anyone else’s towel, handkerchief, shirts, paints or any other cloth to wipe the eyes. This may cause serious Eye Infection in the eyes. Trachoma commonly spread this way.

Use only clean and separate individual towels to wipe face / eyes.

Never touch the eyes with anything unclean or rough fingers, handkerchief or pencil. Avoid self-medication. Do not use eye remedies sold by quacks or roadside medicine sellers. Consult the doctor immediately, if there is any eye trouble. Get the eyes checked up periodically.

Do not expose the eyes to dust of very bright light. Do not use Kajal, Surma or any other material in the eyes unless prescribed by a doctor.

The large numbers of eye injuries in children are caused by fire crackers and fire works extensively used during festivals. Sometime they result in permanent damage. Also unsupervised sports result in similar damage to the eyes in children. When something falls in the eye do not rub the eye which may leed to Eye Problem.

Lift the upper eye lid and pull it down over the lower eye lid. This will help remove foreign body from the eye. Let the tears wash it away. Cleanliness, prompt rest and immediate medical aid are the points to ponder. Wash the eyes with water and dry them with a clean towel or cloth. Sprinkle cold water or eyes to remove dust. Save the eyes from unnecessary strain while reading. Sit with a good light coming from left and behind. Avoid direct exposure of eyes to sun light. Hold printed page about a foot and a half away from eye and an angle of 45% to 70%.

Do not expose to dust or glaring light. Do not read books or magazines with fine prints. Give rest to the eyes frequently by either closing the eyes or looking at distant objects preferably at green trees for a few minutes. Have the eyes examined by a Doctor if there are signs of strain, headache, watering, redness, poor vision, or any other trouble. Keep specs clean and free from scratches. Lack of vitamins may cause night blindness. Eat Gram leaves, Cabbage, Coriander, Drum stick, Papaya and Mangoes. In order to avoid Eye Infections Get your eyes checked periodically.
