The first step in the Acne Treatment would be to control the spread of it and to do so it is best to start treating it at an early stage.
  • The first step would be home remedy and that is to wash your face clean a few times a day with warm water and apply some over the counter creams that are easily available. But this would work in the case of patients where the problem is very mild.
  • Lotions/Creams – Over the counter medicines generally work when the acne is mild in nature. If it is a severe case this may not help and then the dermatologist may suggest stronger creams and lotions. The cream or lotions help prevent bacterial growth and also prevent the blocking of the skin pores.
  • Oral Treatment – In this case the dermatologist may suggest a few medicines and even oral contraceptive pills are used as part of the treatment. There are antibiotics available which are helpful in treating the condition.
  • Surgical Procedure – In severe cases even surgical incisions are adopted as part of the treatment. They may even peel away the skin, which would help in reducing the scar.
  • Laser treatment – This is similar to surgical treatment wherein the doctor would put your scarred area under intense light which would further help reduce the scars.
One should remember that the whole Acne Treatment process takes a long time and a change would only be noticed after about 6-8 weeks of continuous treatment. One should be very patient during the whole process. The treatment method would differ from patient to patient depending upon the severity of the condition.
